Erling Haaland marked another extraordinary milestone in his remarkable career as his 300th club goal secured Manchester City’s narrow 1–0 victory over Coventry City on Saturday.
The Norwegian striker headed home in the 26th minute at the Etihad Stadium to give City all three points and preserve their 100 per cent start to the Premier League season.
Haaland’s landmark strike came after a brilliant piece of play involving Manchester City’s record signing, Enzo Fernández, who made his debut for the club following his £125 million move from Chelsea on transfer deadline day.
Haaland Makes History
The goal was more than just the match-winner.

The £125 million signing was initially expected to start from the bench but was drafted into the starting XI after Nico O’Reilly suffered a back problem during the warm-up.
The Argentine midfielder quickly demonstrated why Manchester City were prepared to make him one of the most expensive players in British football history.
His intelligent pass released Semenyo in the build-up to Haaland’s decisive goal, while his movement and link-up play with Rayan Cherki offered City supporters plenty of encouragement for the future.
Fernández was eventually substituted in the 76th minute after an impressive debut.
Coventry Push City All the Way
Despite City’s dominance of possession, Coventry refused to surrender.
The newly promoted side created several opportunities to equalise, with Taiwo Awoniyi missing a one-on-one opportunity while Jack Rudoni and Ellis Simms were also denied by Manchester City goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma.
City ultimately had to defend their narrow advantage until the final whistle.
The result leaves Coventry still searching for their first Premier League goal of the campaign after three matches, while City have now collected nine points from nine.
Man City Keep Perfect Record
The victory represents another positive step for Manchester City under manager Enzo Maresca.
After significant investment during the summer transfer window, City have opened the campaign with three consecutive victories and remain unbeaten.
Their latest win may not have been spectacular, but it demonstrated another important quality: the ability to grind out results when they are not at their best.
And with Haaland continuing to score at an astonishing rate and Fernández already making an impact, City’s rivals have plenty to think about.
