The General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), Pastor Enoch Adeboye, and his wife, Pastor Mrs. Folu Adeboye, have donated three complete dialysis machines to the University of Benin Teaching Hospital (UBTH), Edo State.
The Chief Medical Director of UBTH, Prof. Idia Ize-Iyamu, described the donation as a significant intervention that would strengthen the hospital’s capacity to provide treatment for patients battling renal diseases.
Prof. Ize-Iyamu made the remarks on Wednesday in Benin during the presentation and delivery of the Nefro Renal Care Solution equipment to the hospital.
She said the donation would complement government’s ongoing investments in the healthcare sector and help improve access to renal care for patients requiring dialysis treatment.
Presenting the equipment on behalf of His Love Foundation (HLF), the global Christian Social Responsibility arm of the RCCG, Pastor Bode Olojede said the machines were donated by Pastor Adeboye and his wife as part of their commitment to supporting critical healthcare needs in Nigeria.
According to Olojede, His Love Foundation focuses on addressing pressing social challenges, with interventions spanning healthcare, hunger, education, rehabilitation, prison ministry and social enterprise.
He noted that the Adeboyes had over the years supported various national healthcare interventions, including the establishment of intensive care units and Enoch and Folu Adeboye dialysis centres in teaching hospitals and other medical facilities across the country.
Also speaking at the event, the Federal Character Commissioner representing Edo State and former Speaker of the Edo State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Engr. Victor Edoror, commended the Adeboyes for their contribution towards expanding access to renal healthcare.
Edoror, who joined the UBTH management in receiving the medical equipment, stressed that government alone could not meet all the challenges facing Nigeria’s healthcare system.
He therefore called on other religious leaders and wealthy Nigerians to emulate the philanthropic efforts of Pastor Adeboye and his wife by supporting initiatives that improve the wellbeing of vulnerable citizens.
The former Speaker expressed appreciation to the couple for their intervention in support of patients living with renal challenges and prayed for their continued good health and long life.
The medical supplies delivered to UBTH include Nefro 4000 A HD Machines, Nefro Dialyzer 1.8M2, Nefro Universal Bloodline, Nefro Bicarbonate Cartridge, Nefro Acid Concentrate and Nefro Dialysis Fluid Filter.
The intervention is expected to strengthen UBTH’s renal care capacity and provide additional support for patients requiring dialysis services.
