KPMG Nigeria has successfully hosted the Data Privacy Conference 2025, convening regulators, industry leaders and data governance professionals for high-level discussions aimed at strengthening Nigeria’s data protection landscape.
The conference opened with a welcome address by John Anyanwu, Partner and Head of Cyber & Privacy, KPMG West Africa, followed by a keynote presentation from Dr. Tolulope Pius-Fadipe, Head of Research and Development at the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
A hands-on data breach simulation, led by Olaoluwa Agbaje, Associate Director, Cyber & Privacy, provided participants with a practical understanding of incident response and mitigation strategies. This was complemented by a global insights session delivered by Caitlin Fennessey, Vice President and Chief Knowledge Officer at the International Association of Privacy Professionals (IAPP), who highlighted global trends shaping the future of data protection.
A robust panel session brought together experts including Dr. Tolulope Fadipe (NDPC), Dr. Ibiso Kingsley-George (NCC), Olatorera Oladeji (Stanbic IBTC Bank), Vivienne Nwankwu (Sterling Financial Holdings Company PLC), and Olaoluwa Agbaje (KPMG West Africa). Together, they examined evolving regulatory expectations and practical pathways for sustaining compliance in an increasingly complex digital environment.
Participants also experienced a live demonstration of the Privada Application and LMS and engaged in interactive Data Privacy Games designed to reinforce learning through hands-on participation.
The event concluded with closing remarks from Samuel Asiyanbola, Partner, Cyber & Privacy, KPMG West Africa, who applauded the speakers and attendees for their valuable contributions to a highly impactful conference.
