Governor Seyi Makinde has declared that the Oyo State Government will not negotiate with terrorists or kidnappers following the recent abduction linked to a school in the state, insisting that security agencies are working tirelessly to ensure the safe rescue of victims and bring the perpetrators to justice.
The governor made the declaration amid growing public concern over rising insecurity in Oyo State, assuring residents that his administration remains committed to protecting lives and property.
According to Makinde, yielding to the demands of criminal elements would only encourage further acts of terrorism and kidnapping. He stressed that the government would instead intensify security operations and strengthen intelligence gathering to dismantle criminal networks operating within the state.
“We will not negotiate with terrorists. Our priority is to ensure the safety of our people while bringing those responsible to justice,” the governor said.
The governor also appealed to residents to remain calm and continue supporting security agencies with credible information that could aid ongoing investigations and rescue efforts.
VDM Leads Protest Against Insecurity
The governor’s remarks came on the same day social media activist VeryDarkMan (VDM), whose real name is Martins Vincent Otse, led a peaceful protest in Ibadan over the worsening security situation and increasing cases of kidnapping across Oyo State.
Joined by concerned residents and supporters, the activist called on the government and security agencies to take decisive action against criminals terrorising communities.
The protesters expressed concerns over the growing wave of kidnappings, urging authorities to improve security around schools, highways, and rural communities to prevent further attacks.

The recent school abduction has heightened anxiety among parents, students, and residents, with many calling for increased security presence in vulnerable areas.
Community leaders have also urged the government to invest more in surveillance technology, intelligence gathering, and collaboration with local vigilante groups to combat criminal activities.

Governor Makinde reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to strengthening security across the state, promising that all available resources would be deployed to tackle kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes.
