Police, hunters apprehend suspected cultists, motorcycle thief

Three suspected cultists were apprehended in Osogbo, the state capital, according to the Osun State Police Command. This operation involved the cooperation of local hunters and law enforcement officers.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Yemisi Opalola, confirmed the arrest and told DAILY POST that the people who were arrested had been involved in an attack in the Alekuwodo area at 12:30 pm.

“These suspected cultists have been causing trouble in the Alekuwodo area of Osogbo,” Opalola stated. “Upon receiving the information, detectives from the Anti-Cultism Unit swiftly moved into action and arrested three suspects, while others managed to escape. The apprehended individuals confessed to being members of the Aye Confraternity.”

Furthermore, Opalola revealed the apprehension of a person going by the name of Sodiq in the Osogbo neighborhood’s Ilesa Garage. It is said that Sodiq is a member of a group that is well-known for stealing motorbikes.

During a patrol in the region, personnel of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security Service, as well as operators from the Osun police command’s Anti-Cultism Unit, made the arrest.

Opalola highlighted the continued pursuit of other gang members who are escaping.

Adebayo, a local of Alekuwodo, described the horror the alleged cultists induced, mentioning their regular disruptions in the community. He related how the suspects were ambushed by police as they moved in on them during a meeting, leading to the arrest of three of them while the others escaped.
