Nollywood actor Kingsley Orji has made a heartfelt appeal for financial assistance on behalf of renowned actor Amaechi Muonagor, who urgently requires a kidney transplant procedure in India.
Orji, a fellow Nollywood actor who works with Muonagor, posted on his Instagram account about the serious financial predicament the senior actor is in. Although Muonagor recently left the hospital, he still requires immediate medical care.
Orji underlined in both Igbo and English the gravity of Muonagor’s ailment and how it affected his speech and general health. He begged supporters and well-wishers to step forward and help cover the expense of the urgently required transplant procedure.
Orji explained, “It has not been easy. He has been in this condition for months now. He wants to go for a kidney transplant. What we want is for you to help us for him to travel to India.”
“He just came back from the ICU in Nnewi Teaching Hospital a couple of days ago. He was responding to treatment but not very well.”
Orji emphasised further, saying, “We brought him home because there was no money, but it’s not a good idea. He hardly speaks at all. Kindly, he wants your assistance.
While the precise sum needed for the transplant procedure remained unknown, Orji gave Amaechi’s bank account information and contact details to those who wished to make a donation.
This appeal for assistance comes after Amaechi’s cousin Tony Muonagor disclosed in November 2023 that the actor was coping with kidney problems, diabetes, and a stroke.
Muonagor’s condition had deteriorated, leading to regular dialysis sessions and physiotherapy at the Nnamdi Azikiwe University Teaching Hospital in Nnewi, Anambra.
