The Director General of the National Automotive Design and Development Council (NADDC), Otunba Oluwemimo Joseph Osanipin, on Friday graced the National Launch of the 10,000 Women in Mobility Initiative, organised by the Nigerian Consumer Credit Corporation (CREDICORP) in partnership with the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs.
The event, held at Eagle Square, Abuja, marked a major milestone in efforts to expand women’s participation in transport and mobility-driven enterprises across Nigeria.
The initiative aims to empower 10,000 women across the six geopolitical zones, providing them with access to mobility assets and sustainable credit structures that will enable them to participate actively in transportation, logistics, delivery services and other mobility-related business opportunities.
In his remarks, Osanipin praised CREDICORP Managing Director, Engr. Uzoma Nwagba, for championing innovative credit solutions that directly uplift women entrepreneurs and enhance grassroots mobility services. He also commended the Minister of Women Affairs, Hajiya Imaan Sulaiman-Ibrahim, describing her as a tireless advocate for inclusive national development.
Reiterating NADDC’s support for the programme, the DG emphasized that all mobility assets showcased at the event were assembled in Nigeria by local automotive companies, including DAG and TVS (Simba Group). He expressed confidence in the capacity of the domestic automotive industry to meet the initiative’s demand.
“The 10,000 units you need can and will be assembled here in Nigeria. Our manufacturers and assemblers are prepared to scale production, especially in two-wheelers and tricycles, and we will build them to meet the needs and specifications of Nigerian women,” he assured.
Osanipin further encouraged CREDICORP and the Ministry to continue collaborating with NADDC to optimize vehicle features for comfort, efficiency and safety, reinforcing the Council’s mandate to deepen indigenous manufacturing and grow the automotive value chain.
The 10,000 Women in Mobility Initiative stands as a landmark step toward inclusive economic empowerment while strengthening Nigeria’s locally assembled mobility ecosystem—objectives that align closely with NADDC’s drive for innovation, capacity development and sustainable automotive growth.
